Here is what you need to know to get started!

Teams based in Texas must complete two separate registrations:

  1. FIRST Headquarters through the FIRST HQ site
  2. FIRST in Texas through the Coach Portal

These registrations serve different purposes, but both are required for your team to participate in local events.

Step 1: Register with FIRST HQ

FIRST is the global nonprofit that designs the games and program. You’ll need to complete your global team registration through FIRST HQ to receive your official team number, which is required to activate the Coach Portal.

Step 2: Register with FIRST in Texas

FIRST in Texas organizes local events and manages the program in the state. This registration covers your participation for the local events. Texas registration will include:

  • Creating your user account in the FIRST in Texas Coach Portal
  • Paying the season fee

In order to access the Coach Portal: 

  1. Complete HQ registration (step 1) 
  2. Complete 2026 FIRST Consent & Release Form available in your HQ portal 

These steps will automatically trigger an account in the Texas Coach Portal. You will be notified via email to complete the Texas registration. The email invitation may take at least 24 hours.
